Dear Members,
The Tennis Committee would like to give an update on leagues.
Congratulations to our ladies 4th team who reached the quarter finals in Class 7. They lost a closely fought match to Ratoath last Sunday, but gained promotion to Class 6. Congratulations also to our ladies Class 5 team who gained promotion to Class 4. All of the other teams maintained their positions.
DLTC is running another Winter league in early February. As we have a high number of people who would like to play leagues we will apply to DLTC to enter 6 teams in both ladies and men’s in February.
We would also like to give everybody an opportunity to play on teams and to challenge for positions on higher teams. This is not easy to do in a short period of time so we are going to start challenges earlier than usual and have as many matches as are needed to allow for fair selection.
Entry is open for leagues from today, Friday November 5 and will remain open for one week only. Please sign up through Events on Smart Club. Once we have the list of players the committee will ensure that we are aware of all partnerships, put pairs together if required and arrange for challenge matches. These must be played before Christmas. Over the Christmas break we will run a 2 day doubles tournament for all levels, giving people the opportunity to practice and help with our league selections. In January we will run the second round of challenge matches taking the first set of results into account. Due to the demand for places all matches will have to be completed to be considered for a team.
League sign up through Events on Smart Cloud and please see the link below to sign up for the Christmas doubles competition (no charge).
