IRELAND VS POLAND JUNIOR INTERNATIONAL FRIENDLY
As COVID-19 restrictions have eased over the last number of months, Tennis Ireland is delighted to be able to provide more international competitive opportunities for junior players.
In early June, Tennis Ireland hosted a qualification event in Naas TC for two Irish teams to compete in the European Championships in July. Unfortunately, in July, Ireland had to withdraw from the European Championships over uncertainty surrounding restrictions and travel to eliminate the risk for players, coaches and their families.
We are happy to report that the players who qualified for the European Championships event will instead be going to Warsaw, Poland next week for a training camp and an international friendly match vs Poland. This is a fantastic opportunity for our players to represent their country.
Building on the success from the Junior Four Nations tour last month and with light at the end of the tunnel, Tennis Ireland is thrilled to provide another opportunity for the deserving players to represent Ireland in a competitive series.
Tennis Ireland are also in discussion with the Polish Tennis Federation on future exciting collaborations.
The tour will take place from 27th – 31st October with training and matches on clay courts at top class facility Akademia Tenisowa Tenis Kozerki.
The following players qualified from our June playoffs:
18 and Under
- Juliana Carton
- Cliona Walsh
- Dylan Leeman
- Dylan Breen
14 and Under
- Rachel Deegan
- Amy MacCarthy
- Zac Naughton
- Eoghan Jennings
Coaches for the tour include John McGahon and Sinéad Dunne. |
